The 2001 Juvenile Court Conference will be held at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, 1000 Walnut Street, Des Moines.  The program on the first day (Wednesday) is designed specifically for judges and attorneys practicing in Juvenile Court.  The Conference will provide the most current information about such topics as the Proposed Expedited Appeals Process (Judge Gayle Vogel); the Case Statistical Reporting Update (Judge Lucy Gamon & John Goerdt); Juvenile Drug Court (Judge Karla Fultz); and Court Improvement  Project Update (Judge Stephen Clarke & Judge Terry Huitink).  Keynote addresses include: Drug Affected People, Child Development and Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Using Volunteers in Juvenile Probation. 

Of special note, is the presentation by Judge Richard J. Fitzgerald, Jefferson County Juvenile Court (retired), Louisville, Kentucky, speaking on Improving Court Practice and Satisfying Adoption and Safe Families Act.  The appearance of Judge Fitzgerald, a nationally recognized speaker on juvenile court best practices, is sponsored by the National Council on Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
