New Legal Forms on CD-Rom

Each county recently received a CD-ROM with newly revised Waiver of Rights and Plea of Guilty forms and Judgment and Sentence forms to reflect changes in the Iowa Code.  Among those changes were the increase in the DARE surcharge to $10 and the implementation of the $125 Law Enforcement Initiative Surcharge.  Pursuant to the request of the Supreme Court, all judgment forms were amended to add information as to whether the judgment was contested or uncontested.  Apparently, this information is needed for statistical purposes.

One entirely new form was drafted which provides determinate sentencing for certain Class D felonies pursuant to Iowa Code Section 902.3A.

The Forms Committee is considering standardized restitution forms and would appreciate input from ICAA members as to whether such forms are needed.  If so, anyone who currently has such forms is asked to share those forms with the committee.  Please send to Forms Committee Chair, Clint Hight, at PO Box 32, Greenfield, Iowa 50849-0032.

If members have suggestions for any other forms, please forward your comments to Clint at the address above.

PowerPoint CDs Available

If you would like to obtain a CD-ROM containing a copy of the PowerPoint presentation given by Ann Brenden at the Fall Conference, please call and request one from PATC at 515/281-5428.  The techniques used in the presentation can be learned by observing the contents, order, style and animation commands in the "View", "Task" panes.  They make great Christmas presents.

Please be prepared to indicate what version of PowerPoint you are now using (or plan on using) so that the replicated CD best matches your program.  (The choices are PowerPoint 97, 2000, 2002, and XP).  For Iowa prosecutors the only cost is shipping and handling of $5.00.
